TREVOR COPP
Bio
Trevor Copp is a Canadian Theatre artist who’s had the privilege to share his craft all over the world.
He’s performed at the Library of Alexandria, a woman’s prison, Barcelona’s street busker strip ‘Las Ramblas’, the oldest gay pub in Ireland, in Damascus before the war broke out, and under a Soviet era lighting grid powered by hand cranking.
He performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Planned Parenthood, an A-list Lebanese film star, and post-COVID for children who touched his shoes to be sure that he was real and not behind a screen.
He delivered a TED Talk that garnered 800,000 views, walked the red carpet at Hollywood’s Chinese Theatre as a film actor, won first place in a Mime festival in Belgrade, founded a Shakespeare Theatre Festival, modeled for a fine art photograph hung at the Louvre’s entrance, and competed as a pro Latin dancer in Vegas.
His all-time favourite adventure was out-barking a pack of wild dogs while illegally sleeping onstage at the theatre of Dionysus in Athens.
Artistic Statement
Trevor calls himself an artist based on his inability to do things he doesn’t find interesting, perhaps one thing artists all have in common.
Trevor is grokking how Heaven is now, tension is the opposite of play, and that we are made out of stories. Trevor is at play with how the body imparts narrative, experiences awe, and mediates the world inside of us with the one outside of us. Being underwater, dealing with fathers, ineffable states of being, and unapologetic seriousness keep coming up in his work for some reason.
Trevor acts like he’s an actor and sometimes pulls it off.
Trevor is a partner dancer trying to discover not-a-partner dancing.
Trevor often performs Mime alone on an empty stage to remember that the biggest illusion is himself.
I started out as a street busker and am now among Canada's top Mime practitioners. I studied at the Marcel Marceau school in Paris and continue performing in hundreds of corporate, educational, theatre, orchestral, and private events. I have performed mime to over 40,000 people; partnered with professional symphonies like the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Kitchener-Waterloo Stymphony, and the Festival of the Sound; and tour with my award winning solo shows, 'Searching for Marceau' and 'Bulfinch's Mythology.' I have been accepted into Cirque du Soleil's performer roster. Click photo for more.
In addition to acting with Tottering Biped Theatre, I'm a former Associate Artist with MT Space Theatre, Motus O Dance Theatre, and Theatre & Company. I've performed at Theatre Passe Muraille, The Grand, Aquarius TA2, and Yukon Arts Centre Theatres; the IMPACT, Magnetic North, Rutas, Canoe, and Undercurrent Festivals; 12 Performing Arts Centres; and internationally in Dublin, Hannover, Tirana, Damascus, Beirut, Cairo, Alexandria, Tunis, Casablanca, Sharm El-Sheik, Belgrade, Turin, and Jordan. I'm a former Latin/Ballroom dance competitor and instructor. In addition to performing and choreographing, I co-created/tour with a gender neutral partner dance approach, 'Liquid Leading,' which launched in a TED Talk with 800,000 views. My Dance and Mime expertise has led to Movement Coaching/ Choreographing for the Shaw Festival, CanStage/Studio 180, Irish Classical Theatre, and many University Theatre programs. I'm also an avid Salsa clubber and I've danced in 19 countries. I've also coached 2 sets of Salsa dancers who went on to take world Salsa titles. Click photo for more.

My original plays have toured to over 30 cities/theatre festivals nationally and internationally, winning the Cutting Edge Award at the Toronto Fringe Festival. As a fiction writer, Trevor's stories and poetry have been short listed for GritLit, a finalist for the Hamilton Reads, won the Hamilton Arts & Letters, and was a finalist for CANSCIAP contests.
