Medium Bio

Trevor founded Tottering Biped Theatre (TBT) in 2009, a professional company emphasizing original, issue driven, and highly physical work. He completed Theatre Studies at Waterloo, a MA at Guelph, and Mime at the Marcel Marceau School in Paris. He has been a professional actor for over 15 years in pieces ranging from classical to contemporary, performing in over 40 national and international cities and Theatre Festivals.

 

Trevor is also a professional Mime, a regional American Style Latin Dance Champion, and has taught/coached physical Theatre for over a dozen professional Theatre companies and University Theatre programs. He is an active arts advocate, director and choreographer.

Trevor founded Burlington’s Tottering Biped Theatre (TBT) in 2009, a professional company that emphasizes highly physical and social issue oriented work. 

Selected text based acting credits include Will Eno’s Thom Pain, Panych’s The Ends of the Earth, Shakespeare's Pericles, and the Canadian professional premier of Metamorphosis. He was/is a resident artist with Theatre & Company, MT Space Theatre, and Motus O Dance Theatre.

 

As a devised theatre co-creator, Trevor performed/directed in TBT’s First Dance, The Second Life, and Searching for Marceau, and MT Space’s The Last 15 Seconds, Body 13, and Amal. These 6 shows performed multiple times at the Theatre Passe Muraille, Grand Theatre, Firehall Theatre, and Theatre Aquarius TA2 seasons; the IMPACT, Magnetic North, Rutas, Prismatic, Undercurrents, In the Soil, Springworks, and Canoe Festivals; National tours, and tours of the Middle East, Northern Africa, Ireland, and Albania. Trevor also founded the popular Shakespeare by Nature series in 2016, which performs Shakespearean theatre each summer in Hamilton, Ontario. 

 

Trevor is also a former Latin/Ballroom Dance competitor and has coached Canada’s 2 sets of World Amateur Salsa Champions. He co-invented a gender neutral form of partner dancing whose TED.com talk has garnered 800,000 views/international speaking engagements. 

 

He went from streetbuskering to professional Mime after studying at the Marcel Marceau School in Paris, creating/touring his solo shows which have performed to over 10,000 audience members. He has taught/coached physical Theatre for The Shaw Festival, CanStage/Studio 180, Theatre Beyond Words, Pat the Dog Playwright Centre, Zacada Circus, Irish Classical Theater, The Iberoamerican Festival in Bogota, and the 6 University Theatre Departments.

 

He has been recognized with the Hamilton Theatre Artist of the Year, Burlington Artist of the Year, the Ontario Presenters Artist of the Year, a Paula Award, and a Chalmer’s Fellowship Award. His work has been featured in the Canadian Theatre Review, TED.com, CBC, WholeNote, Dance International, and the Dance Current.
